The Next Version of Artlantis Will Be Powered By Maxwell Render

Wow, this is huge news! The main two rendering engines I have been using are combining forces in what looks to be a great partnership. I'm not sure how this will play out because Artlantis is very fast, while Maxwell is really accurate but we all know the tradeoffs are eachother's weaknesses. Artlantis is not hyper-realistic while Maxwell is slow. Of course I'm willing to live with each of these weaknesses because the strengths are why I use them in the first place. I always choose the best tool for the job at hand.

Hopefully this will mean we users get the best of both worlds combined into one super-power rendering application.

PARIS, June 11, 2012 – Abvent announced today the release of Artlantis 4.1, powered by the Maxwell Render engine from Next Limit Technologies. This latest release combines the speed and ease-of-use Artlantis users have come to rely on with the power and physical accuracy of Maxwell Render. As the fastest stand-alone 3D rendering application developed especially for architects and designers, Artlantis 4.1 takes architectural visualization to new heights.

It looks like the Maxwell Render engine will be an optional add-on (for €500 extra) but I'm really looking forward to having Artlantis' ease-of-use combined with Maxwell's beautiful output.

I'm downloading the demo as I post this! You can read the press release here.
